Online Quran Classes for Beginners — Start From Zero, With a Patient Teacher

Updated 5 November 2026

Never read a word of Arabic? Never learned the Quran as a child? You're not alone — and you're not behind. Most of our students begin exactly where you are now, and most are reading short surahs within a few months of steady, gentle practice.

Beginner classes are private, one-on-one, and paced entirely around you. No group to keep up with, no embarrassment about what you don't know yet. Your tutor starts with the alphabet — letter by letter — and only moves on when you're ready. Kids begin with Qaida and games; adults begin with Qaida and encouragement. Try 3 free classes first.

  • Free 3-day trial · no credit card
  • Live 1-on-1 online classes
  • Qualified male & female tutors
  • 24/7 — every timezone

What a beginner actually learns — step by step

Every beginner starts with Noorani Qaida. It is the same book millions of Muslims have learned from for generations: first the Arabic letters, then how they join, then the short vowels and the first rules of pronunciation. There is nothing to memorize by force — you read aloud, your tutor corrects you gently, and the letters start to click.

From Qaida, you move into Nazra (reading the Quran fluently), then Tajweed (reading it beautifully and correctly). Adults who want it can add daily duas, Salah practice, and the meaning of what they read — in English.

  • Stage 1 — Noorani Qaida: letters, joining, vowels, basic pronunciation (2–6 months)
  • Stage 2 — Nazra: fluent reading of the whole Quran (6–9 months after Qaida)
  • Stage 3 — Tajweed: the rules of beautiful, correct recitation
  • Optional: daily duas, Salah practice, and the meanings of short surahs in English
  • Adults and children follow the same path, at their own pace

No Arabic? No problem — here's how the first class feels

Your first class is not a test. Your tutor asks what you already know — even if the answer is nothing — and starts from there. You learn the first letters, repeat them aloud, and by the end of the lesson you can already recognize them. Most beginners are surprised how quickly the first week goes.

Classes are 30 minutes, live and one-on-one. You can ask the same question five times. There is no one else watching, and no pace but yours.

  • First class: a friendly level check — never a test
  • Taught in English, with Urdu and Arabic support
  • Female teachers available for sisters and children
  • 30-minute classes, at times you choose, in your timezone

Beginners who started with us — what to expect in month one

In the first month, most beginners finish the alphabet and begin joining letters into words. Parents tell us the change they notice first is confidence: the child who was nervous about reading aloud starts volunteering to read. Adults tell us the same — the dread disappears once the first letters make sense.

Progress is reported to you after every few lessons, so you always know where you stand — and what comes next.

  • Week 1–2: the Arabic alphabet, recognized and pronounced correctly
  • Week 3–4: letters joining into words, with short vowels
  • Month 2–3: reading short words and the first lines of the Qaida fluently
  • Honest progress updates after every few lessons — no surprises

How the free trial works

The 3-day free trial is 3 real one-to-one lessons with a qualified tutor — not a sales call. You meet your tutor, get a friendly level assessment, and experience actual classes. No credit card, no obligation.

  • Day 1: meet the tutor + free level assessment
  • Days 2–3: real live classes with the same tutor
  • You receive honest feedback on your level and a recommended plan
  • Continue only if you're happy — pause or cancel anytime

Frequently asked questions

I can't read Arabic at all. Can I really start from zero?+

Yes — that is exactly what beginner classes are for. Your tutor starts with the alphabet itself, letter by letter, and only moves on when you're ready. Most beginners who take 3 classes a week are reading short words within a month.

How long does it take a beginner to read the Quran?+

Most students complete Noorani Qaida in 2–6 months (3 classes a week typically takes 3–4 months), then read the Quran fluently within 6–9 months after that. Adults who practice between classes often move faster. Your tutor gives you an honest estimate after the free trial.

Are beginner classes for kids or adults?+

Both. Kids start with Qaida and interactive lessons; adults start with Qaida at a pace that respects their time. New Muslims and returning learners also start here.

What do I need for the first class?+

Just a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and internet connection, plus a quiet corner. Classes run on common video-call apps — we'll walk you through setup on WhatsApp before the first class.

Can I choose a female teacher?+

Yes. We have qualified female teachers (Qariahs), and many sisters — and parents of daughters — choose them. Mention your preference when booking.

What is the difference between the free 3-day trial and the free one-month Qaida course?+

The free 3-day trial is 3 real one-to-one lessons in any course — Qaida, Tajweed, Hifz, Tafseer or Arabic — so you can meet your tutor and try real lessons. The free one-month Qaida course is a full month of live one-to-one Qaida lessons for beginners, for the first 50 students only. They are two different offers: try 3 lessons, or take a whole free month of Qaida.

When does the free Qaida course start?+

There is no fixed start date. The course begins once enrolment is complete. Class time is whatever you choose, in your own time zone.

What are the fees for beginner classes?+

Plans are based on classes per week: 2 classes/week is $25/month, 3 classes/week is $35/month, 5 classes/week is $55/month. The 3-day trial is completely free. Sibling discount is 30% off. See our fees page for full details.
