Riwaq Al Quran vs Studio Arabiya vs QuranHub — Which Online Academy Fits Your Family?

By Nazeer AhmadFounder, QuranHub Online Quran AcademyM.A. Arabic & IslamiyatDars-e-Nizami (Tanzeem-ul-Madaris)10+ years teaching Quran and Islamic studies

If you've been comparing online Quran academies, you've probably met these three names. They're all legitimate academies with real teachers and real students — this is not a hit piece. But they are genuinely different from each other: one is an Egypt-based Quran specialist with its own learning app, one is a broader Arabic-and-Quran institution that also runs an online school and in-person programs in Egypt, and one is QuranHub, our own academy, built around a small qualified team and a free multi-day trial.

Below is a straight comparison on the things that actually affect your family: who teaches, what you'll pay, what the trial gives you, and who each academy suits best. We run QuranHub, so we're the biased party in this comparison — we've kept the facts checkable against each academy's own site, and we've listed where each competitor is stronger than us. Verify anything before you pay; prices and plans change. Our free 3-day trial: three real one-to-one lessons with a qualified tutor, scheduled around your family's day. No credit card, no pressure — decide after you've seen the teaching, not before.

  • Free 3-day trial · no credit card
  • Live 1-on-1 online classes
  • Qualified male & female tutors
  • 24/7 — every timezone

The short answer

Pick Riwaq Al Quran if you want native-Arabic Egyptian tutors, a dedicated progress-tracking app, and a long course list including Tafsir, the Ten Qira'at and Ijaza tracks — starting at $32/month. Pick Studio Arabiya if your goal goes beyond Quran into Arabic language learning, or you want a structured K-12 online Islamic school (or an in-person immersion year in Egypt) alongside Quran classes. Pick QuranHub if you want a small, qualified team (10 tutors with named credentials), a genuinely free 3-day trial before you decide, and an academy designed around US/UK/CA/AU family schedules.

Riwaq Al Quran: the Egypt-based Quran specialist

Riwaq Al Quran's pitch is depth in Quran study with Egyptian Azhari-style teachers. Their public course pages advertise certified native-Arabic tutors, one-to-one classes in 30, 45 or 60-minute lengths, free make-up classes, and a dedicated LMS with a mobile app so parents can see progress themselves rather than asking the child. Their course list is the widest of the three: beyond Qaida, recitation and memorization, they offer Tafsir, the Ten Qira'at, Islamic studies for non-Arabs, and a distinct Ijaza track — the formal certification chain for your own recitation. Pricing starts at $32/month for two 30-minute classes a week ($40/month at the standard per-class rate of $5), with discounts on 3- and 6-month plans.

Where Riwaq is stronger than us: if your goal is Ijaza certification, or learning the Qira'at from a native-Arabic Egyptian reciter, they offer tracks we simply don't. Their LMS progress tracking is also more developed than our tutor-reported system. What to check before enrolling: ask what the Ijaza chain looks like and how long that track typically takes; confirm make-up class policy details for your schedule.

Studio Arabiya: the Arabic-and-Quran institution

Studio Arabiya is the broadest of the three. Alongside Quran reading, Tajweed, memorization and translation courses with a free trial class, they teach the full Arabic language — and they run a complete K-12 online Islamic school (weekend classes, $375/semester for the full Arabic + Quran + Islamic studies track, with sibling discounts) plus an in-person Arabic immersion program in Egypt. Their 1-on-1 Quran plans vary by frequency — confirm current pricing directly, since plan details vary.

Where Studio Arabiya is stronger than us: if you want Arabic language fluency alongside Quran, or a whole Islamic school curriculum for your children, or an in-person year in Egypt, we don't offer any of that. They're the institutional option. What to check before enrolling: verify current 1-on-1 pricing and whether Quran classes are bundled with Arabic; check the K-12 school schedule against your family's weekends (classes run Saturday–Sunday afternoons EST).

QuranHub: the small-team, trial-first academy

That's us. Ten tutors — five male Qaris and five female Qariahs — all Tanzeem-ul-Madaris qualified with M.A. degrees in Arabic and Islamiyat. Every class is one-to-one and 30 minutes. We keep the model simple on purpose: a free 3-day trial (three real lessons, no card), transparent plans from $25/month for two days a week up to $55/month for five days, 24/7 scheduling built around US, UK, Canadian and Australian family time, and free tutor switching if the fit is wrong — no lock-in, pause or cancel anytime.

Where we're stronger: our trial is the longest of the three — three full lessons, not one class, so your child actually experiences the teaching before you pay. And our team is small enough that tutor quality is individually verifiable; ask for credentials and sit in on any class. Where we're honest about being weaker: we don't offer an Ijaza track, the Qira'at, or a full Arabic language program. We don't have a parent-facing app — progress comes through your tutor's reports. If those matter to you, one of the other two is the better fit, and we'll tell you that upfront.

How to choose in 5 minutes

Define the goal: Quran reading for a 6-year-old? All three work. Ijaza or Qira'at? Riwaq. Arabic fluency or a school curriculum? Studio Arabiya. A small, accountable team with a long trial? Us. Take all three trials: Riwaq's trial lessons, Studio Arabiya's trial class, and our 3-day trial are all free. Teaching quality is what you'll live with — one class tells you more than any comparison article (including this one). Watch the same lesson elements: does the tutor correct gently and immediately? Does your child get to recite most of the time (not the teacher)? Is there a plan for next week? Check the fine print: cancellation terms, make-up classes, and whether the price you were quoted is the price you'll keep paying after month one. Involve your child: the best tutor on paper loses to a teacher your child actually likes and wants to return to.

The honest bottom line

All three academies are real, all three have free trials, and any of them can give your family a good Quran education. The differences that matter: Riwaq for deep Quran tracks and native-Arabic teachers with an app to track it; Studio Arabiya for Arabic language and school-style structure; QuranHub for a small qualified team, the longest free trial, and no-lock-in scheduling for US/UK/CA/AU families. Take the trials, watch your child in the lessons, and pick the teacher — not the brand.

Frequently asked questions

Is a more expensive academy better?+

Not automatically. You're paying for teacher quality, individual attention, and accountability systems. A 1-on-1 program with a good tutor at a fair price beats a pricier program with a bad one. The free trials exist so you can check quality before price matters.

Can I switch tutors if the fit is wrong?+

Ask each academy this directly before paying. At QuranHub, tutor switching is free and unlimited — it should be a standard expectation everywhere; if an academy resists, treat that as information.

Do I need a native Arabic speaker to learn the Quran?+

Native Arabic helps with pronunciation, but many non-native tutors (Egyptian, Pakistani, and others) have excellent Tajweed. What matters more: the tutor's own recitation quality and their ability to correct yours, whatever their passport says.

Which academy is best for sisters?+

All three advertise female teachers. At QuranHub, half our team (5 of 10) are female Qariahs — mention your preference when booking the trial and we'll match you from day one. Ask the others how many female tutors they actually have available in your timezone.

What should I do if none of the trials impress me?+

Then the problem is the matching, not the concept. Tell each academy exactly what didn't work (pace too fast, child bored, tutor too strict) and ask for a different tutor profile before you write off online classes entirely.
